Out with the Old and in with the New!

We love a good project to keep us busy (as if we aren't already busy with work, a toddler, an infant and two crazy dogs!) This trailer has become our newest and biggest project. As we were cleaning it out, we realized that we were not in love with the mid-90s floral prints. The carpet was horribly stained and the linoleum was coming up in spots. So we've decided to renovate it.

First project: The Flooring

Jon got inside the trailer and started pulling up all the carpet and linoleum. Aaaaand that's where we hit our first snag. As he was pulling up the flooring in the kitchen, Jon noticed it was damp underneath the table. (Ugh. Of course this wouldn't be easy.) It had rained a few days before that so we were pretty sure water got in some how. Jon looked on the outside of the trailer and sure enough! Pretty much all of the caulk on the outside was old and falling off. Which means water leaks. (Double Ugh) Thankfully, the weather has been gorgeous the past few days. Jon was able to finish pulling up the flooring and caulk around every opening on the outside of the trailer! All while working crazy hours at work and being an awesome dad!

And so it begins....

So now we eagerly wait for it to rain again. Something I never thought I'd wish for while living up near Seattle. But we need it. We want to make sure we've got any type of leak sealed so we can start putting in our beautiful new flooring!

Here's to hoping that it rains soon AND that the rest of our projects go fairly smooth. Until then...you can find us pulling up the millions of staples used to put the carpet down. -__-

We did it.

We've been talking about it for a long time. A year, maybe? We've been talking about it, dreaming about it, saving for it, and we finally did it. We bought ourselves a travel trailer!

Jon and I both grew up camping with our families. We have so many incredible memories at different campgrounds across the US. We decided not too long after M was born that we want our kids to have memories like that. We decided on a travel trailer because tent camping with small kids isn't exactly our idea of fun. We'd much rather have a warm trailer to sleep in, especially on cold rainy nights in the Pacific Northwest. So we saved up money and searched the sale ads. Jon went to go look at a few trailers, but nothing that really sparked his interest. Then last week he told me he'd found it. So we loaded up, rode the ferry to Seattle, and drove an hour to see a trailer. I could tell as soon as Jon saw it. This was the one. I could see it, too. It fit us. I could see us making memories in it for years to come. We looked at the trailer and talked to the owners. After about an hour we had worked out a deal. Jon would pick up the trailer the next day. We went to bed that night anxious.

The next morning, the kids and I went to the airport to pick up my mom. Jon left and went to go pick up the trailer. As soon as he got on the ferry he text me, "WE OWN A CAMPER!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!" To say we're excited is an understatement! We can't wait for all the adventures we'll take! One day, when our kids are grown up, they'll come back home for the holidays and we'll all share stories of the memories made in this beautiful trailer. ♥
